6/8 - Whew! Schools all done and so are finals, I hope everyone’s went well! Now that summers here I might be posting on this page of the blog a little less frequently but don’t worry for those of you who are prepping for the SATs or summer school I’ll still be here! This weeks tip is game night. Turn your review into a trivia game (like Jeopardy) to review with friends and family! Use categories like “grammar rules”, “algebra tricks”, and “weird vocabulary”. Another easy way to study for the literature part of the test is buying an “SAT cheat code” book, and I know what you’re thinking don’t worry this isn’t actually cheating. A cheat code book tells you different things to memorize so you know what the wrong choice is on the SAT. For example if an answer has any opinionated words like “always, never, must, only, best, or worst” that’s most likely not the right answer because the test likes to stay away from extreme opinionated answers unless it is heavily supported by evidence.
5/25 - Alright guys we’re on the final stretches of school! I know some of you are already out of school but for those of you who aren’t here’s this weeks tricks (which can come in handy for finals)! Watch a couple youtube videos on how to use desmos to its full extent because that can provide itself to be useful on tests especially the SATs. Also this may be tedious but draw/write out your notes on a whiteboard or on paper in a blue pen, its good for memory, then check everything you missed and do it again; this is called brain dumping it works!
5/18 - Having trouble studying for the SATs?? Check out a new startup SAT studying AI called Motionshark! It helps with a customized SAT study course specified for your struggles. IB and AP exams are finishing up but for those of you who still have finals make sure to review by memorizing terms with flashcards and joining study groups to stay on top of your schedule! Good luck!
5/11 - IB exams are coming up these next few weeks so here’s how to get your head in the game. This might sound tedious but pull out ALL your notes and highlight key things you need to know. Then review it all and the most important step, talk it out with someone else. Teaching or learning from someone else helps your brain connect synapses and is just a good way to figure out how much you know!
4/27 - Summers coming right around the corner but that means so are the August SATs. Locking yourself in a room and studying might not be the best method so here are some fun games you can try! Sheppards Software is a fun game for all learning levels to brush up on various topics. Quizlet while basic has numerous games to learn basic vocab and math problems on! Last, FreeRice is a great way to expand your knowledge on potential words that may pop up on the SATs. You got this, see you next week!
4/20 - Studying doesn’t have to be boring especially when Roblox is involved. Some students are using Roblox games like “AP World History Hangout” and “Chemistry Class Simulator” to review material with flashcards, quizzes, and even mini mock exams built into the game. It’s lowkey fun and a sneaky way to study without feeling like you’re studying. If that’s not your thing, don’t worry, YouTube shorts and TikTok creators are posting 60-second AP reviews that actually help, especially for last-minute cramming. And if your notes are a mess, try color-coding by topic and using AI to make quick summaries (just double check the info). With a few fun tools and some good playlists, you’ve totally got this.
4/13 - If school’s feeling a little overwhelming right now, you’re not alone—but good news, some of the internet is actually being helpful for once and not causing procrastination. TikTok is blowing up with Google Classrooms made by students for students to prep for AP exams, complete with notes and practice tests. Just search your class and you’ll probably find one. Study groups online are also swapping tips like using AI tools to quiz yourself (use them smart, not sneaky). Also, if you’re struggling to stay focused, the Pomodoro method is back—25 minutes on, 5 minutes off, repeat with snacks. Finals are creeping up, but small habits now = way less stress later. You’ve got this.
4/6- Mid-semester slump? Same. If your motivation’s been MIA, try the “just 10 minutes” rule—set a timer, start something small, and suddenly you’re in the zone. Also, study playlists with lo-fi beats are making a comeback on TikTok (again), and honestly, they kind of work. Speaking of TikTok a man pretending to be an asain mother has a live stream where he will come in and check up on you every 2 mintues which seems to be amusing the studiers of TikTok but oddly enough working for them as well. People are loving color-coded Google Calendars to stay on top of assignments, and if you’re stressing about finals already, don’t—just start a little review now and your future self will thank you. Small wins add up, and your brain deserves a break and a gold star.
